Privacy

The Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (“GCMD”) respects the privacy and confidentiality of the personal data of the various stakeholders we interact with in the course of our work. We are committed to safeguarding the collection, distribution, usage and disclosure of personal data provided to us, in compliance with the Singapore Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2012. 

Cookie/tracking technology

This website may use cookie and tracking technology depending on the features offered. Cookie and tracking technology are useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system and understanding how visitors use the site. Cookies can also help to customise the site for visitors.

Personal data cannot be collected via cookies and other tracking technology. However, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information. Aggregate cookie and tracking information may be shared with third parties.

Personal data

In this Data Protection Policy, “personal data” refers to any data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified (a) from that data; or (b) from that data and other information to which we have or are likely to have access.

Collection, distribution, usage and disclosure of personal data

When asking for your personal data, we are committed to the following:

  • Explaining why we need personal data and only asking for the information we need
  • Sharing the data only within GCMD and with other organisations where such sharing is necessary and where we have your consent
  • Protecting the data we are given and making sure that only those who need access are able to do so

Collection

We collect your personal data in the following ways:

  • When you sign in or complete forms on our websites and social media handles
  • When you subscribe to our reports or newsletters
  • When you register for and/or participate in our events and activities
  • When you submit your resume for job-matching opportunities
  • When you provide us with your name cards at events and meetings

Distribution of personal data

We may share personal data with government agencies or other companies assisting us in fraud prevention or investigation. We will do so when: (1) permitted or required by law; or, (2) protecting against or preventing actual or potential fraud or unauthorised transactions; or, (3) investigating fraud which has already taken place.

Usage

We may use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Informing you about Invitations for Proposals, events, workshops and invitations for Industry and Consultation and Alignment Panel (iCAP) exercises 
  • Responding to enquiries pertaining to our programmes
  • Carrying out obligations arising from contracts entered into between you and us
  • Complying with legal obligations and regulatory requirements
  • Profiling you as part of industry activities
    Responding to your job application

We may also use your photographs and/or videos for collaterals, publicity and outreach efforts on our communications platforms.

Disclosure

We may disclose your personal data to third parties in order to facilitate our work. We will work closely with such third parties and adopt appropriate security measures in collaboration with them to ensure that your personal data is kept secure and confidential.

We may also disclose personal data with government agencies or other companies assisting in fraud prevention, investigation or other needs as (1) permitted or required by law; or, (2) necessary to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud or unauthorised transactions.

We will however not offer or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes, without seeking your consent.

Transfers of personal data outside of Singapore

In the event that we transfer your personal data to agencies outside of Singapore for any of the aforementioned usage and disclosure, we will take steps to ensure that your personal data continues to receive a standard of protection that is at least comparable to that provided under the PDPA.

Withdrawal of consent, access and correction of your personal data

If you:

  • Have any question or feedback relating to your personal data or our Data Protection Policy;
  • Would like to withdraw your consent to any use of your personal data as set out in this Data Protection Policy; or
  • Would like to obtain access and make corrections to your personal data records
